Apparently pretty much everyone that has a house in Singapore (and housing is ludicrously expensive here), has a maid. This weekend I am told that the number of women on the streets will increase substantially as most maids have one day a week off. When I asked about the price of a maid, I was told that the common price is $300-$400 per MONTH in Singapore dollars for a live-in maid. If we look at the exchange rate, thats $196US-$261US. At those prices, hell maybe I might need to bring home more than just some gifts.
